Quarterback-needy NFL teams are beginning to do their homework on Brendan Sorsby, but ex-Jet Damian Woody is sending a warning to all prospective teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know in an NFL locker room, a 53-man roster, everyone is not going to be a good guy. You\u2019re going to have some junkyard dogs in your locker room. But every football player out there knows, betting on games and betting on your own games is a cardinal sin,\u201d Woody said on Wednesday edition of \u201cGet Up\u201d on ESPN. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, if I\u2019m in the locker room, no way in hell do I want a guy with the ball in his hand playing the most important position knowing that I don\u2019t know what his intentions are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sorsby requested a Supplemental NFL Draft<\/a> to have the option after his college career was destroyed<\/a> due to his gambling addiction, and, admittedly, betting on games involving his own college team.<\/p>\n

Sorsby, who was going to play for Texas Tech this upcoming season, was rated as the No. 3 quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft by ESPN\u2019s Matt Miller behind Arch Manning and Dante Moore.<\/p>\n

It is unclear at this point if Sorsby will indeed be granted a supplemental draft. It would set up an intriguing decision for NFL teams<\/a>, if he is approved.<\/p>\n

An NFL executive told Albert Breer<\/a> that Sorsby \u201clooked better than Ty [Simpson] on tape,\u201d leading some to believe he could be selected with a first or second-round pick. <\/p>\n

Simpson was drafted by the Rams in the first round in this year\u2019s NFL Draft. <\/p>\n

There is still a risk that Sorsby gets hit with an NFL suspension, which could diminish his value.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals could be among the teams that could be interested in taking a shot on Sorsby, but any team doing so runs the risks that Woody warned about. <\/p>\n

Sorsby, who played for Indiana and Cincinnati before transferring to Texas Tech, was found to have wagered approximately $90,000 over four years using sportsbook accounts registered to friends and family, and making at least 2,900 total bets.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
