SPOKANE, Wash. \u2014 After fighting in court to play his final college season at Gonzaga<\/a>, Tyon Grant-Foster has cleared another hurdle in his pursuit of an NBA career.<\/p>\n

Grant-Foster has officially been cleared to participate by the NBA\u2019s fitness-to-play panel.<\/p>\n

During the 2021-22 season opener at DePaul, Grant-Foster collapsed on the court and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors used a defibrillator to restore his heart rhythm multiple times. He underwent two heart surgeries and had an implantable defibrillator placed.<\/p>\n

After 16 months away from basketball, he returned to college action at Grand Canyon in 2023-24, averaging 20.1 points per game and earning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors.<\/p>\n

Following that breakout season, Grant-Foster entered the NBA Draft process and earned an invitation to the NBA Draft Combine before ultimately announcing his return to Grand Canyon in June 2024.<\/p>\n

The following season, Grant-Foster again had to fight for eligibility in court to play another college season, which was eventually granted<\/a>. In his lone season with the Zags, he appeared in 35 games, including six starts, and averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.<\/p>\n

Grant-Foster is not currently listed on major NBA Draft boards, but that could change now that he is eligible to participate in workouts with NBA teams. He had previously been unable to attend the NBA Draft Combine or G League Elite Camp due to the fitness-to-play restriction.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dream was not to play college basketball this long. It was not. Yes, I\u2019m grateful to be here, obviously.
