\n\tThe writers room is together for season 2 of Robert Carlock<\/a> and Sam Means<\/a>\u2018 NBC comedy series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins<\/a>, barreling toward a late August shoot in time for a fall premiere. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe duo discuss on today\u2019s Crew Call<\/a> how the 30 Rock reteam with Tracy Morgan came together: \u201cThree things we haven\u2019t done: There\u2019s sports, there\u2019s the family comedy and the mockumentary,\u201d says Carlock.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedy series follows Morgan as former NFL champ Reggie Dinkins who has certainly seen better days. He\u2019s trying to make a comeback and his ex-wife, Monica (Erika Alexander) is there to give him a lift, along with best friend and former teammate Rusty (Bobby Moynihan), and influencer g.f. Brina (Precious Way). All the while, Reggie\u2019s life is being captured by British documentary filmmaker Arthur Tobin (played by Daniel Radcliffe) who has his own production challenges.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarlock says that season 2 \u201ccontinue to be a puzzle to figure out why this movie is never getting made.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso, given how the series is headed for a season 2 fall premiere, \u201cwe\u2019re talking about breaking a Thanksgiving episode.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tA big jumping off point will be picking up where season one ended with the aftermath of Reggie\u2019s son Carmelo (Jalyn Hall) dating the daughter of his father\u2019s football arch-nemesis, Jerry Basmati (Craig Robinson). But most of all, the series will continue to explore the theme of redemption, and not just for Reggie but everyone. The Hall of Fame, yes, that will always be within some kind of reach for Reggie. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s about Tobin getting back on the Oscar stage, or Monica running a football team or whatever her grandiose plans are,\u201d shares Carlock. <\/p>\n

\n\tCarlock and Means talk to us about Fey\u2019s notes for the show (\u201cthis one doesn\u2019t have any puppets?\u201d, she asked once referring to a 30 Rock episode involving Jack McBrayer\u2019s Kenny Parcell), Jon Hamm\u2019s constant plea to make a cameo, inspirations for Reggie Dinkins, and what Morgan delivers. <\/p>\n

\n\tSays Carlock, \u201cI can\u2019t describe him better than Tina did at one point, which is you love him and you root for him and you\u2019re not quite sure what he\u2019s going to do next. So there\u2019s that little edge and a little bit of danger and unpredictability.\u201d<\/p>\n
