{"id":746202,"date":"2026-06-19T07:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T07:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/746202\/"},"modified":"2026-06-19T07:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T07:23:09","slug":"shoeys-in-seattle-socceroos-fans-make-hilarious-and-insane-mlb-baseball-visit-ahead-of-us-world-cup-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/746202\/","title":{"rendered":"Shoeys in Seattle: Socceroos fans make &#8216;hilarious and insane&#8217; MLB baseball visit ahead of US World Cup clash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One day out from the epic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/au\/world-cup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Cup<\/a> Group D showdown between Australia and the US, Socceroos fans have switched their attention to another ball sport.<\/p>\n<p>A jovial contingent of Australian fans decided to head down to the ball park for the Major League Baseball match between the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles at the Mariners\u2019 home ground, T-Mobile Park.<\/p>\n<p>Loud, entertaining and proudly sporting their Socceroos jerseys, it\u2019s fair to say they made their presence known from left field, both to fans at the game and those watching on TV at home in scenes that more resembled an afternoon at the MCG for the cricket.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Aussies are doing shoeys at the ballpark.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Mariners\/status\/2067732296669737214?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">June 18, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beer snakes, beach balls, shoeys &#8211; the Aussies put on quite a show which suggests tomorrow\u2019s FIFA World Cup match at Lumen Field is going to be something to behold.<\/p>\n<p>As one Aussie fan explained simply: \u201cWe do shoeys as we have no idea what\u2019s going on in the actual game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aussies \u2018unhinged and glorious\u2019 declare Seattle baseball fans<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Mariners fans also seemed to enjoy the afternoon, and not just because their team won 3-0.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was one of the most unhinged and glorious mid-week games I have ever been to,\u201d posted Seattle local\u00a0Jay Grande on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Aussies in the crowd were hilarious and insane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the week well-lubricated Scotland World Cup fans paid their own visit to the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, before then heading south to Yankee Stadium in New York in an encore performance of what is fast becoming a tradition of this year\u2019s FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Socceroos third and final Group D match is against Paraguay next Friday in Santa Clara, not too far from the home of the San Francisco Giants.
