The last time Paulo Aokuso fought on a Tim Tszyu undercard at Afterpay Arena (formerly Qudos Bank Arena), he was walked to the ring by members of Sydney rap group OneFour. <\/p>\n
When he makes the same walk for his fight with Luis Tejeda on the Tszyu vs Errol Spence megacard on July 26<\/a>, Aokuso will remember \u201cone of the boys\u201d who walked with him three years ago, but is no longer here to do it again. <\/p>\n Alai Ahio, also known as Urcher, was a former OneFour associate who was shot and killed last month<\/a> after he and a group of mates were ambushed by at least two attackers in the garage of a home in Canley Heights.<\/p>\n The former star footy player, who won an A Grade premiership with Doonside last year, went to Liverpool Hospital after the late-night attack in May. <\/p>\n He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and underwent surgery, but died in the hospital. <\/p>\n Ahio, 28, was part of the crew \u2014 which included OneFour members Spencer \u2018Spenny\u2019 Magalogo and Jerome \u2018J-Emz\u2019 Misa \u2014 who walked Aokuso to the ring for his bout on the Tszyu vs Tony Harrison undercard in March 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cUrcher \u2014 he was one of the boys,\u201d Aokuso tells Code Sports as his spot on the Tszyu-Spence blockbuster was confirmed this week. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was there that day. <\/p>\n \u201cI was actually watching footage of my fight back from that day \u2014 it was very emotional. <\/p>\n \u201cThat was the most excited I\u2019ve ever been for a fight. <\/p>\n \u201cI was fighting a top, world-ranked opponent, and Tim Tszyu was fighting Tony Harrison.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Urcher, he was there for it. He was in the locker room as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Aokuso and Ahio go way back.<\/p>\n \u201cWe grew up together,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n \u201cWe didn\u2019t go to the same school, but we were always at athletics carnivals \u2013 we were the only Islanders there. <\/p>\n \u201cI was born and raised in Mounty, but moved out of Sydney to Brisbane pretty early. <\/p>\n \u201cTime flies.\u201d<\/p>\n Aokuso was shocked when he heard what happened to his old athletics rival. <\/p>\n \u201cI ended up seeing it on the news,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n \u201cI moved out of the area, but was seeing on all the socials. <\/p>\n \u201cMan \u2026 it\u2019s crazy what can happen on just a normal day. Things happen. <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s nothing else we can do about it.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019ll always be there in spirit \u2013 he was a good person.\u201d <\/p>\n Aokuso said he wanted OneFour to complete a full circle moment by walking him to the ring again next month, but after the drama it caused back in 2023,<\/a> it won\u2019t be happening again. <\/p>\n Members of the controversial group were scheduled to perform a song \u2013 Commas \u2013 while Aokuso walked to the ring for his bout with Yunieski Gonzalez on the Tszyu undercard. <\/p>\n
