Energy Fuels (AMEX:UUUU) shares jumped 16% on Thursday after the company received a conditional loan commitment worth $725 million from the U.S. Department of War\u2019s Office of Strategic Capital, a move aimed at expanding domestic rare earth processing capacity.<\/p>\n

The proposed financing would support the development of a new U.S.-based rare earth separation and metallization facility, strengthening the country\u2019s critical minerals supply chain and reducing dependence on overseas processing.<\/p>\n

Funding Targets Rare Earth Expansion <\/p>\n

The conditional loan commitment is designed to help Energy Fuels accelerate its transformation from a uranium-focused producer into a broader supplier of rare earth materials and processing services.<\/p>\n

Combined with additional private-sector funding, the project is expected to expand the company\u2019s role in the rare earth value chain, particularly in the midstream segment between mining and permanent magnet manufacturing.<\/p>\n

New Facility to Support U.S. Industrial Supply Chain <\/p>\n

Energy Fuels currently operates the White Mesa Mill in Utah, which includes uranium processing capabilities and a rare earth oxide separation facility.<\/p>\n

The planned project would add metallization and advanced separation capacity, helping create a more integrated domestic supply chain for materials used in defense, technology and industrial applications.<\/p>\n

Management believes the facility would help address a critical gap between raw material production and the manufacturing of permanent magnets, a key component in advanced technologies.<\/p>\n

Government Highlights Strategic Importance <\/p>\n

Federal officials described the investment as part of a broader effort to strengthen U.S. access to critical minerals and reduce supply chain vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOSC is deeply focused on supporting domestic processing for critical minerals and rare earths. Energy Fuels\u2019 expansion into rare earth midstream processing represents a key solution to a national bottleneck that needs to be rapidly addressed,\u201d said David A. Lorch, Director of the Office of Strategic Capital.<\/p>\n

Loan Remains Subject to Final Conditions <\/p>\n

The financing has been issued as a conditional commitment and remains subject to customary requirements before final approval can be granted.<\/p>\n

Energy Fuels must complete financial, technical, legal and operational due diligence processes before reaching financial close and accessing the funding.<\/p>\n

Part of Broader Industrial Investment Strategy <\/p>\n
