That doesn\u2019t happen all that often for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/alpecin-premier-tech\" title=\"Alpecin-Premier Tech\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alpecin-Premier Tech<\/a> rider, but on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/tour-of-switzerland-2026-stage-4-preview-can-pogacar-conquer-the-time-trial-too\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Saturday at the Tour de Suisse<\/a>, he says he wants to test his legs once again in and around Aarburg.Van der Poel finished fifth on Friday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/not-pogacar-but-narvaez-wins-tour-de-suisse-stage-3-after-105-stormy-kilometres-in-the-breakaway\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the third stage<\/a> of the WorldTour race and said he felt sharper than he had in the days leading up to it. This helped dispel some of his own doubts. \u201cIt was also less hot. That made me feel much better right away. I\u2019m satisfied. On the climbs at the start of the stage, I was able to keep up without any problems,\u201d he told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ad.nl\/wielrennen\/van-der-poel-voelt-zich-beter-na-eerste-moeizame-dagen-in-zwitserland-ik-moet-wat-geduld-hebben~a2ad5f5a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AD<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The final weekend of the Tour de Suisse consists of a 23-kilometer individual time trial and a mountain stage in and around Villars-sur-Ollons. On paper, Van der Poel no longer has a chance of winning a stage, but he still wants to give it his all on Saturday. This is primarily with an eye toward the Tour de France, which begins with a team time trial.<\/p>\n<p>If Alpecin-Premier Tech manages to limit the damage there, Van der Poel may still have a chance at the yellow jersey in the days that follow. \u201cThe plan is to go all out again on Saturday. We\u2019ll see how I feel,\u201d MVDP confirmed to the AD. Last year, he finished sixth in the time trial at the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9, also in the run-up to the Tour de France. In the Tour de France, he finished 18th in the time trial in Caen.<\/p>\n<p>Van der Poel\u2019s strongest performance on a time trial bike may well have come in the 2021 Tour de France.
