Pauline Hanson is demanding enhanced security after being targeted by a series of violent threats directed at her, her staff, and members of her family.<\/p>\n
The One Nation leader raised the alarm after receiving a number of disturbing text messages and voicemails containing threats of physical assault, sexual violence and death.<\/p>\n
The menacing communications were directed to both her private phone and electorate office, prompting her to hire a private bodyguard.<\/p>\n
“I’m going to kill you,” one message seen by the Daily Telegraph reads.<\/p>\n
“Your protection won\u2019t protect you forever,” another said.<\/p>\n
Ms Hanson said the scale of abuse was concerning, adding that even a single person acting on a threat could create a serious risk.<\/p>\n
“In Queensland, I feel relatively safe, but I\u2019m well aware that it takes just one mentally unstable person to create a safety risk for myself, my staff or members of the public,” Ms Hanson said.<\/p>\n
“Doing my job shouldn\u2019t put my safety, or the safety of the public, at risk.<\/p>\n
“But sadly, I\u2019m aware that the threats have increased in recent times, and therefore I understand the need for the AFP to conduct a full review of my protection.”<\/p>\n
Correspondence obtained by News Corp shows Ms Hanson\u2019s office raising concerns with a senior cabinet minister, expressing alarm that her personal safety concerns were not being sufficiently addressed.<\/p>\n
“She is extremely vulnerable, and I can\u2019t express how worried we are that something terrible could occur,\u201d one message from her chief-of-staff, James Ashby, said.<\/p>\n
“It only takes one crazy person to harm her in ways this country has not yet had to experience.<\/p>\n
“Please don\u2019t allow these dreadful people to take this country down that path at the expense of Pauline\u2019s life.”<\/p>\n
