The classic Y62 Patrol remains popular thanks to its 5.6-liter V8.<\/p>\n

Nissan has been selling the Y62 Patrol in Australia since 2013.<\/p>\n

Local order books for the all-new Patrol will open later this year.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been almost two years<\/a> since the all-new Nissan Armada and Patrol<\/a> duo premiered, and yet in Australia, the Y63 model won\u2019t launch until next year. This means that for a limited time, the outgoing Y62, complete with its gas-guzzling V8, will remain on sale, although interested buyers will have to act fast to secure an allocation.<\/p>\n

Nissan<\/a> says that production of the old Patrol in Japan for the Australian market will end in August. In addition, this is the last chance for interested shoppers to get behind the wheel of the flagship, homegrown Warrior version, built and modified by local engineering firm Premcar.<\/p>\n

By modern off-road standards, the Y62 Patrol is quite antiquated, especially compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series. However, the one thing it has going for it over the competition is its 5.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, delivering 400 hp (298 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm), all while emitting a soundtrack that none of the turbocharged competition can match.<\/p>\n

Outdated But Still Popular<\/p>\n

Nissan has been selling the Y62 Patrol in Australia<\/a> since 2013, and although some minor tweaks have been made over the past 13 years, it remains largely the same car it was back then. The all-new Y63 promises to be a vast improvement over this model, sporting a much more modern design, better features, improved safety, and a powerful new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged powertrain and nine-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n

How many examples Nissan hopes to move in the coming weeks isn\u2019t clear, but the company notes current stock is finite. As for the Y63, local orders for it will open later this year.<\/p>\n
