SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) — Two people riding a motorcycle were killed in a crash with an SUV Saturday afternoon in the northwest suburbs, police said.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. near Golf Road and Commons Drive in Schaumburg.<\/p>\n

A Nissan SUV and a motorcycle crashed at the location, police said.<\/p>\n

The motorcyclist and passenger of the motorcycle were dead at the scene, police said. A passenger in the Nissan was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Police have not released details about what led up to the crash, but witnesses in the area described what they saw. One man at a nearby McDonald’s said it appeared the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed while the SUV was making a turn when the two collided.<\/p>\n

“I was just eating, saw motorcycle flying. I saw the impact. There was just smoke and I ran out. Cause I knew that there was a crash,” said witness Matthew Lutz.<\/p>\n

Witnesses rushed to help before first responders arrived. Emergency crews remained on the scene for hours, where significant damage and debris were visible across Golf Road.<\/p>\n

Golf Road was closed in both directions between Plum Grove Road and Commons Drive for several hours following the crash.<\/p>\n

Police have not yet released the identities or ages of the two people who died.<\/p>\n
