Still only seven months into his life as a professional heavyweight, 30-year-old NAS is looking to confirm himself Australia\u2019s new crossover king at Pat Rafter Arena Brisbane on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
Better, the bout takes place on the undercard of Liam Paro\u2019s shot at history against IBF welterweight champion Lewis Crocker. <\/p>\n
While NAS already boasts two wins over both Jeremy Latimore and Wallace, Burgess will be making his heavyweight debut \u2014 meaning there is no fight tape of him anywhere.<\/p>\n
Yet apart from the lack of Burgess film, Asofa-Solomona has also questioned why a fella who was looking to fight AFL great Barry Hall seven years ago \u2013 and who has spoken of working out for years, including with Australian great Danny Green \u2014 doesn\u2019t have even training footage doing the rounds on social media.<\/p>\n

Quizzed this week on how he is readying for Burgess, especially given the lack of footage available, Asofa-Solomona said of his debuting rival: \u201cThis is the thing, right? There\u2019s absolutely no video of him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was some video maybe of him shadow boxing from a month ago. But otherwise, nothing. No footage of him sparring, on the heavy bag \u2026 [laughs] or even on the streets of Bali turning into a human windmill like I once did.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven from this latest camp, nothing.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd in interviews, I\u2019ve noticed him mentioning how that could be an obstacle for me. That I\u2019ve never seen him throw a punch.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut deep down, the fact he isn\u2019t putting any footage out there, it\u2019s telling. And suggests he probably isn\u2019t about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asofa-Solomona also questioned if Burgess is living the life of a fighter \u2014 or an actor. <\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, I just hope he turns up,\u201d he followed up soon after. \u201cAnd doesn\u2019t turn up drunk \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t put it past him,\u201d the Storm premiership hero continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst time I faced off with him, immediately after I fought Jeremy Latimore, he stunk of booze. And it was the same after my second fight against Jarrod Wallace, when he stunk of booze again.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen in Brisbane during Magic Round, it was something else again I could smell \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

While the heavyweight refused to go further, it is understood he was referencing cigarettes. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo I don\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing?\u201d he said. \u201cMaybe this is what he does to cope with the nerves.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burgess, meanwhile, simply grins when asked about the lack of training footage leading into his professional heavyweight debut.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe enigma they call me,\u201d he laughed. \u201cI\u2019m loving that tag.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd right now, even I don\u2019t know how it\u2019s going to go \u2026 but I\u2019m excited to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n
While there may not be much footage of Burgess to go on, the now retired South Sydney star has seen plenty of his former Melbourne Storm rival \u2013 and certainly wasn\u2019t impressed with his most recent stoppage win over Wallace.<\/p>\n
While NAS eventually finished in the third round, there were moments earlier where Wallace, who effectively came off the couch for the fight, appeared to have the 135kg heavyweight troubled.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I was a little disappointed,\u201d Burgess said of his rival\u2019s performance. \u201cI mean, Nelson has supposedly gone full-time with this boxing switch, is training every day \u2026 so I thought we would\u2019ve seen improvements in his footwork, in his defence, even improvements generally.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know he\u2019s got heavy punches, got those nice highlight reel punches.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut if he really wants to take this seriously, and wants to make a career of boxing, he needs to work on all the other parts of his game as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd in his last fight I didn\u2019t see that. So I was a little disappointed and I think he was disappointed with his performance as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pushed on the performance, Burgess continued: \u201cJarrad came out with a good game plan and really had him rattled there a few times.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it was also interesting to see how [NAS] dealt with being hit. I don\u2019t think he dealt with it that well.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m sure we\u2019re going to see a better fighter next up. Or at least that\u2019s what I\u2019m preparing for.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asofa-Solomona, meanwhile, says he has been working hard on both his boxing fundamentals and mental game since the Wallace win.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve really delved into the mental side of fighting,\u201d he said. \u201cThat, and working on the fundamentals.
