Here are 10 updates I found to be especially enlightening from our June reports.

MLB Prospect Takeaways

1. Cristian Arguelles is one of the top teenage hitters in the Rookie complex leagues this season. The Rockies view him as one of their top talents at the lower levels of the minor leagues, and it’s easy to see why. Arguelles hits, walks, hits for power and runs well enough to hold down center field in the Arizona Complex League. “He has an advanced feel at the plate,” Rockies assistant farm director Jesse Stender said. “It’s a sweet lefthanded swing. There isn’t much he can’t do in the box. Draw the walk. Dump one in the gap. Hit it over the fence . . . Obviously we’ll see him tap more into his power as time goes along. But it’s already showing up early.”

2. The Brewers have recently hit on multiple late-round high schoolers from the Midwest, with Josh Adamczewski being one prime example. Healthy this season after a pair of abbreviated campaigns, the 21-year-old left fielder quickly hit his way to Double-A and became a Top 100 Prospect. “Offensively, he’s been on another level from opening night,” said Tom Flanagan, the Brewers’ senior vice president of player operations and baseball administration. “He’s a pure hitter, and it’s been fun to watch. He controls the strike zone and can do some damage to all fields.”

3. Six-foot-3 Dominican right fielder Jhomnardo Reyes is showing exciting power in the Florida Complex League in his first season in the U.S. The Twins expect to promote the 18-year-old to Low-A when the FCL season ends next month, and not only because he can hit the ball over the wall. “The thing that stands out to me the most is the work ethic he’s had,” Twins farm director Drew MacPhail said. “He’s a guy who has really impressed, and really put himself on the map in a big way. I think the way he’s going about it from a work ethic and professionalism standpoint has just been really exciting on our end.”

4. The Guardians are beginning to flow young impact hitters such as Travis Bazzana and Chase DeLauter into their big league lineup. Others are percolating in the upper minors. Now, a new face is muscling his way to the front of the line among Cleveland’s Class A set: 18-year-old Venezuelan outfielder Juneiker Caceres. He is flashing a strong overall batting profile at Low-A Hill City, complete with feel for the barrel, strong swing decisions and growing power. “The bat is the foundation,” Guardians assistant GM James Harris said. “He has walked more than he has struck out in every environment he has been in, and that discipline has shown up consistently. Like most players his age, there are strides to go on the physical profile, but we believe he has the frame and work ethic to do it.”

5. Gabe Davis’ junior year at Oklahoma State did not play out as expected. The 6-foot-9 righthander went from Friday night starter on Opening Day to bullpen arm by the end of the season. Still, the White Sox drafted him in the fifth round and are developing him as a starter. Now armed with a pro routine, including a personalized shoulder care program, and after making a few mechanical tweaks, Davis has quickly advanced to Double-A Birmingham. “A whole lot of the stuff Gabe needed to work on, could really be worked on at every level,” White Sox pitching coordinator Matt Zaleski said. “It wasn’t throwing his pitches in the strike zone—he did an excellent job of that. His velocity, it’s in an excellent spot. It was the daily prep, the work.”

6. Switch-hitting Dominican shortstop Yilver De Paula had his pro debut season cut short in 2025. He put his downtime into building himself up physically, and this season the 18-year-old has produced better-than-expected offense in the Arizona Complex League. “He put in a lot of work over the winter with some of the strength gains, which in turn you’ve seen his ability to impact the baseball,” Angels assistant GM Joey Prebynski said. “We’ve been very pleased with how it’s carried over into games and how he’s been able to do more damage.”

7. As Orioles international director Koby Perez set about rebuilding the organization’s long-neglected Latin American program, he would seek late bloomers and overlooked players. One such player was passed-over Venezuelan righthander Yeiber Cartaya, who signed for a small bonus as a 19-year-old in 2022. Now 23, he is holding his mid-90s velocity and throwing more strikes than ever at High-A Frederick. “Through spring training, every outing was progressively better and better,” Frederick pitching coach Jordie Henry said, “and when the season hit, he’s just been as consistent as anyone on the staff in terms of throwing strikes and maintaining velocity. He’s always had good raw stuff. It’s just now you get to see it every day.”

8. The Royals were bought in on Louisiana prep outfielder Corey Cousin Jr.’s athleticism, instincts and work ethic when they drafted him in the 18th round in 2024 and went over slot to sign him. While he lost the 2025 season to injury, it wasn’t truly a lost year for his development. “I learned more about my body when it came to recovering,” Cousin said. “. . . Eating well, what to do and what not to do in the weight room.” This year, the 19-year-old is better for that extra attention as he thrives in the Arizona Complex League.

9. The third time has been the charm for 20-year-old shortstop Carter Johnson at Low-A Jupiter. The Marlins’ 2024 second-rounder out of an Alabama high school didn’t hit much in the Florida State League in two previous stints. This year has been different for Johnson, in part because he is different after adding 12 pounds of good weight over the past year. “Prior to this, I had struggled to hold good weight,” Johnson said. “I would eat 5,000 calories a day—and nothing. I’m also better at pitch recognition. I’m not chasing as much.”

10. Underestimate 5-foot-8 shortstop Jhonny Level at your own risk. The 19-year-old Giants prospect collected multiple hits in nearly half of his first 13 games for High-A Eugene, where he was the youngest position player in the Northwest League. Level was able to level up so quickly because he saw time at Low-A San Jose late last season, preparing him for what lay ahead in 2026. He has a “quiet confidence to him,” Giants farm director Kyle Haines said. “He’s like Mighty Mouse for us. He’s got a short, compact swing . . . and that’s where that power comes from.”

Image credit: Cristian Arguelles (Photo by Bill Mitchell) Baseball America regularly publishes an organization report for each of the…

[558
64,63,591,216509,85
post-752912","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mlb","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-mlb","tag-organization-reports","tag-sports
["GET
