Chris Eubank Jr spends some time talking about his current frame of mind and what he\u2019s inclined to do with his professional boxing career now that he\u2019ll soon be 37 years old and is most recently coming off a shelling at the hands of Conor Benn back in their November 2025 rematch. Since then Eubank has revealed that he\u2019s been battling unspecified health issues but says he\u2019s optimistic that he\u2019ll get back to peak physical condition for one final run before father times does away with him for good.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s some excerpts of what he had to say when asked about where he\u2019s headed.<\/p>\n
Eubank on his future plans in boxing<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a fighter. I\u2019ve always been in love with the sport so I will campaign for as long as I can, until the wheels fall off. They nearly fell off in that last fight but, you know, we kept things together and since then I\u2019ve been on a recovery program, getting back to full health, getting back to the old Chris Eubank Jr. In that last fight you saw a fighter that you know it wasn\u2019t me, everyone knows that.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I can get back to what I was, I think I got at least a few more years left in the sport so I\u2019m going to try to do everything I can to make sure that happens. There\u2019s no specific plan, there\u2019s no contracts drawn up. I am a free agent. I am not tied down to any one promoter, outfit, any one broadcaster. I\u2019m free and it\u2019s a beautiful position to be in because the industry knows this and we have a lot of exciting opportunities and offers to weigh up and pick from and decide which route we want to go.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt all comes down to what\u2019s best for me and I think I will be back in the ring maybe towards the end of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
On whether there\u2019s anyone he wants to fight in particular<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of names that would make for exciting fights. There\u2019s a lot of people that the fans want to see me step into the ring with. I\u2019ve done so much in my career, there\u2019s nothing like \u2018oh, I have to get this fight, I have to fight this guy.\u2019 I\u2019d love to win a world title. I\u2019d love to get another strap, but that\u2019s easier said than done.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn terms of opponents, it\u2019s what the fans want. We\u2019re listening to the fans, who they want to see me get back in the ring with. So me and my team are weighing up all the options and we\u2019ll make a decision soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
On how confident he is that he can regain his past form after dealing with health issues<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m confident. I am on a strict program and I have to be because this is my life, this is my passion. And realistically, how long can a human being continue to fight at the highest level? Once you start hitting those late 30s, it gets harder and harder and harder. So I really only have a few more years to really be able to do the things I want to do, so it\u2019s very important to me.
