Sam Worthington<\/a> will lead in his first TV role in four years, and he has wife Lara Worthington<\/a> (n\u00e9e Bingle) to thank.<\/p>\n

The Aussie Avatar<\/a> star, 49, has scored the leading role in Harlan Coben<\/a>\u2019s newest series adaptation I Will Find You. The actor said his wife of nearly 12 years pushed him to take the role \u2013 but don\u2019t expect his kids to tune in.<\/p>\n

Sam and Lara, 39, have been married since 2014<\/a>. They share three sons Rocket, 11, Racer, nine, and River, six. While their dad may be a big Hollywood star, that doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019ve seen Sam\u2019s movies. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to ask them to [watch my stuff],\u201d the Clash of the Titans\u00a0star told PEOPLE<\/a> during the series\u2019 New York premiere on Monday. <\/p>\n

\u201cKids don\u2019t feed your ego, but it was interesting that my son wanted to watch [I Will Find You],\u201d said the surprised dad-of-three.<\/p>\n

What wasn\u2019t a surprise was that wife Lara watched back-to-back episodes of the thrilling new miniseries. She\u2019s also the reason Sam took the role in the first place. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe got an early screening, so [Lara] and my son watched it until four in the morning … They binged them all,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife Lara is a huge fan [of Coben] and she\u2019s the one who said \u2018You\u2019ve got to do this… you\u2019d be a fool not to do it\u2019,\u201d Sam said speaking with Richard Wilkins on Today<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s thanks to her that I dived in.\u201d <\/p>\n

Thirteen of Coben\u2019s novels have been adapted for screen in Australia. I Will Find You marks Sam\u2019s first TV series since Under the Banner of Heaven in 2022. <\/p>\n

Sam and Lara, an Aussie model and media personality, met at a festival in New York back in 2013<\/a>. They were married not long afterwards, tying the knot in a ceremony in December 2014.<\/p>\n

Sam and Lara have been married for nearly 12 years and keep their personal lives out of the spotlight. \u00a0Instagram<\/p>\n

At the time, Lara was pregnant with their first son, Rocket. They have since also welcomed sons Racer and River.<\/p>\n
