Former reality star and BBC<\/a> presenter Ashley Cain<\/a> has spoken out after his past posts using offensive language about women resurfaced. <\/p>\n

The 35-year-old\u2019s BBC documentary series,\u00a0Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone, was cancelled after misogynistic\u00a0remarks he made about women on X, including calling them \u201cs–ts\u201d, \u201cpsychos\u201d and \u201cb–ches\u201d were unearthed.<\/p>\n

Ashley Cain was a footballer turned reality star turned BBC documentary host.\u00a0Instagram<\/p>\n

The Guardian<\/a> also uncovered other posts that included sexually explicit and aggressive content.<\/p>\n

Cain addressed the \u201clanguage I used many years ago that I am not proud of\u201d in a post to Instagram<\/a>, after he was dropped by his management and season two of his docuseries was canned.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t deny it. I don\u2019t excuse it. And I certainly don\u2019t condone it,\u201d Cain wrote.<\/p>\n

He said the unearthed comments, posted between 2011 and 2015, were made by \u201ca younger version of myself who still had a lot of growing up to do\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cain issued a lengthy statement on Instagram.\u00a0Instagram\/@mrashleycain<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot change the past, and truthfully, I have never tried to hide from it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always believed that accountability matters. We should all take responsibility for our actions, good or bad. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I also believe in growth, in learning from our mistakes, and in proving through our actions that the person we once were does not have to be the person we remain.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said at the time, he was \u201clost, frustrated and unsure\u201d of where his life was heading after injury brought his football career to an end<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cain said he had grown and learned lessons from fatherhood, including the devastating loss of his eight-month-old daughter, Azaylia\u00a0Cain, from a rare form of leukaemia<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot change what I said over a decade ago. What I can do is take responsibility for it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I can do is continue striving every day to be a good father, a good human and a positive force in the lives of others.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the comments came to light, Cain had been lauded by the BBC as someone who could connect \u201cwith young men in a truly exceptional way\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his BBC Three series, Into the Danger Zone, Cain met young men on the fringes of society in dangerous and brutal parts of the world. A second season had been filmed, but will no longer air.<\/p>\n

In a statement after the scandal broke, the British public broadcaster said it was investigating its own vetting and social media checks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe posts by\u00a0Ashley Cain, albeit from many years ago, are completely unacceptable,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
