Aussie influencer<\/a> Lauren Lakin has caused a storm on social media after revealing her family had been denied entry to a public pool<\/a> in France<\/a> for \u201chygiene reasons\u201d. <\/p>\n

In a video shared to Instagram<\/a>, Lakin, 40, shared they were turned away from the public pool because her husband and son were wearing board shorts<\/a>, while they were instead expected to wear \u201cEuro shorts or Speedos<\/a>\u201d. <\/p>\n

Aussie influencer Lauren Lakin and her young family were denied entry to a French public pool while on their European holiday. \u00a0Instagram\/@lakin.life<\/p>\n

Just shy of 24 hours after the video was posted<\/a>, it hit almost one million views prompting Lakin to share another video clarifying exactly what had happened. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe looked up why this is the rule, it\u2019s due to hygiene reasons,\u201d the content creator wrote online.<\/p>\n

\u201cApparently board shorts are worn outside and in other public places whereas swimmers are only worn at the pool, therefore more hygienic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s some very passionate people in the comments,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs like with every viral video I\u2019ve ever had, it somehow finds the dark side of the web.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lakin stated that she was now posting to \u201cclear a few things up\u201d, including the misconception that she and her family had been \u201ckicked out\u201d of the pool. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe were told that the boys needed to buy the Euro swim shorts which they did have available right there in the vending machine,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we decided not to get those because the pool was actually closing at 4pm for an event, and it was like quarter to three or something by the time we actually arrived.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than going into the pool that afternoon, Lakin and her family decided to leave and purchase the swim shorts elsewhere for a cheaper price and try the pool another day. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not have a problem with the rule by the way,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was just letting people know in case they didn\u2019t know because we didn\u2019t know that that was a thing.<\/p>\n

Lakin posted to her story to clear the air after the story had gotten twisted, with some thinking she had been “kicked out” of the pool.\u00a0Instagram\/@lakin.life<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, it\u2019s not really something you google prior to leaving for your holiday. Especially since we probably wouldn\u2019t have even gone to the public swimming pool had it not been right there, it\u2019s so close to where we\u2019re staying.\u201d<\/p>\n
