South Sydney winger Tyrone Munro has fronted a Sydney court to fight allegations of domestic violence, but will have to wait until next year for his next hearing. <\/p>\n
The 21-year-old has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and common assault (DV), over an alleged incident in April last year. <\/p>\n
According to court documents, Mr Munro is alleged to have assaulted a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at Sydney Olympic Park between 1pm and 6pm on April 17.<\/p>\n
He appeared before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday for a hearing to fight the allegations, after the original hearing listed for April was pushed back due to the Anzac Day long weekend. <\/p>\n
The young gun was stood down by the NRL last October under its \u201cno fault\u201d stand-down rule.<\/p>\n
The officer in charge of the investigation took the stand on Tuesday, telling the court he was working at the front desk at Auburn Police Station on 13 October last year, when around 11pm a woman approached and appeared emotional, and asked to speak in private.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had taken her into a side room \u2026 she was really worried about anyone listening to our conversation, she put her phone on aeroplane mode,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
A triple-0 call was also played to the court, in which the alleged victim\u2019s sister spoke with police. <\/p>\n
In the call, the woman told police she believed her sister had been involved in an alleged physical domestic violence incident. <\/p>\n
\u201cHow do you know \u2026 it was physical?\u201d the operator asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe told my dad she had a busted lip \u2026 and bruises on her arm,\u201d the woman replied. <\/p>\n
The woman told the operator she was not aware of any previous domestic violence incidents involving her sister, or any apprehended violence orders, and did not believe the pair were impacted by drugs or alcohol.<\/p>\n
The court was also told police attended the family home four days after the alleged incident, prompted by the call from the woman\u2019s sister. <\/p>\n
Police say they did not observe any injuries on this visit. <\/p>\n
The matter was adjourned to February next year, with Munro\u2019s high-profile solicitor Elias Tabchouri adding they were devastated by the delay. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a bit, I guess, distressing that these matters have now been delayed at no fault of our client,\u201d he told reporters outside court. <\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment, he\u2019s still stood down from the NRL \u2026 and I guess what we should say is that we\u2019d hope the NRL might consider looking at cases on their merits.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will now be stood down for over a year in circumstances where one might argue that the ultimate penalty would not come anywhere near that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Munro made his NRL debut for the Rabbitohs in 2023 and has made 19 first grade appearances.<\/p>\n
Munro played 12 games in 2025 after dealing with yet another collarbone injury early in the season.<\/p>\n
