{"id":756102,"date":"2026-06-24T00:09:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T00:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/756102\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T00:09:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T00:09:12","slug":"nflpa-has-not-decided-whether-or-how-to-challenge-the-nfls-position-on-brendan-sorsby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/756102\/","title":{"rendered":"NFLPA has not decided whether (or how) to challenge the NFL&#8217;s position on Brendan Sorsby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the NFL decided not to allow quarterback Brendan Sorsby into the supplemental draft, lawyer Jeffrey Kessler said he plans to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/jeffrey-kessler-exclusion-of-brendan-sorsby-from-supplemental-draft-violates-the-cba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">immediately raise<\/a> the alleged Collective Bargaining Agreement violation with the NFL Players Association.<\/p>\n<p>The NFLPA has not immediately decided what, if anything, to do about the league\u2019s stiff-arm of Sorsby.<\/p>\n<p>A source close to the situation tells PFT that the NFLPA has not made any determination on if, how, or whether the union has legal grounds to challenge the NFL\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Although Sorsby won\u2019t be a member of the NFLPA until he\u2019s drafted or goes undrafted and signs as a free agent, the NFLPA has standing to challenge the NFL\u2019s failure to conduct a supplemental draft after a seemingly eligible player applied.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s where it gets a little awkward. By taking a stand for Sorsby, who is not currently in the union, the NFLPA could be impairing the employment of a current union member; if Sorsby gets a roster spot, someone else will be released.
