{"id":7574,"date":"2025-07-20T04:22:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-20T04:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/7574\/"},"modified":"2025-07-20T04:22:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T04:22:08","slug":"health-trust-apologises-after-ed-leak-fixed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/7574\/","title":{"rendered":"Health trust apologises after ED leak fixed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">A clean-up operation has been completed after a water leak affected the Ulster Hospital&#8217;s emergency department (ED) in Dundonald.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The South Eastern Health Trust had earlier urged people not to attend the ED unless it was a &#8220;life-threatening emergency&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">It said the leak occurred in the ED waiting room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">On Saturday evening, the trust confirmed the incident had been dealt with and said it was &#8220;sorry for any inconvenience the water leak from a pump may have caused&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Earlier, Stormont Assembly member Colin McGrath from the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP)  said the public &#8220;deserves urgent assurances&#8221; following reports the roof of the &#8220;newly built&#8221; ED had leaked. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Mr McGrath, who is also the opposition health spokesperson in the assembly, said: &#8220;It is absolutely shocking that the roof of a newly constructed emergency department \u2013 opened less than two years ago \u2013 has failed to the point that patients have to be turned away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;This is not a minor snag or a small teething issue.
