BROOKLN \u2013 With four players selected in Wednesday\u2019s second round of the NBA Draft, the Big 12 Conference amassed a league-record 13 total picks and led all conferences. The 13 selections in this year\u2019s draft surpassed its previous Conference highs of 10 players picked in the 2010 and 2008 drafts.<\/p>\n
The first Big 12 player to hear his name called on Wednesday was BYU\u2019s Richie Saunders who was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the second pick of the second round (32nd overall). Saunders was followed by Cincinnati\u2019s Baba Miller (36th overall to the Los Angeles Clippers), Houston\u2019s Emanuel Sharp (45th overall to the Sacramento Kings) and Arizona\u2019s Jaden Bradley (50th overall to the Toronto Raptors).<\/p>\n
The Conference rewrote the record books in Tuesday\u2019s first round with nine players selected in the first round, which set a Big 12 record. The nine first-round picks were the third most by any conference in NBA Draft history as BYU\u2019s AJ Dybantsa and KU\u2019s Darryn Peterson gave the Big 12 the first and second overall picks in the same draft for the first time ever.<\/p>\n
To drive buzz and underscore the Big 12\u2019s strength in this year\u2019s draft class, the Conference executed a creative takeover around Barclays Center with digital and mobile billboards showcasing its hardwood identity under the headline \u201cThe Court That Makes Kings.\u201d With AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson going No. 1 and No. 2, the creative updated to \u201c1 & 2? That\u2019s 12,\u201d reinforcing the Conference\u2019s position at the top of the draft.<\/p>\n
