In a sequel to a stunt targeting Anthony Albanese in his electorate earlier this month, One Nation has parked billboard trucks in front of Parliament House calling on Australians to \u201cStop Labor. Fire the liar\u201d.<\/p>\n
Fronting reporters on Thursday, leader Pauline Hanson said the trucks were paid for through a fundraising campaign launched in response to May\u2019s federal budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are sick and tired of this government who has not given us accountability,\u201d Senator Hanson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe budget they\u2019ve handed down, it\u2019s going to rake in another $77bn out of the pockets of Australians.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s just destroyed this nation. People have had a gut full. Even the polls are saying they don\u2019t want him anymore.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t want this toxic, Labor-Greens government.\u201d<\/p>\n
One Nation has continued to surge in the polls since Angus Taylor\u2019s ascent to opposition leader, with the populist minor party overtaking the Coalition in polls nationwide and last month seizing the longheld Liberal seat of Farrer.<\/p>\n
Senator Hanson\u2019s appearance at the National Press Club last week only brightened the spotlight as she ignited a national conversation about Australian identity by calling for \u201cmonoculturalism\u201d \u2013 a concept she and other members of her party have struggled to define.<\/p>\n
Pressed again during her remarks on Thursday, Senator Hanson said it was about Australian pride and respecting military service and the national flag.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it\u2019s basically saying we have our culture, we have our identity, we have our Australian larrikinism \u2013 that\u2019s all part of it,\u201d she said, adding \u201cthere\u2019s many things\u201d.<\/p>\n
Pointing to the Socceroos, Senator Hanson noted that many of the players were \u201cfrom different cultures\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut they were in there to play the game for Australia, to represent the Australian flag, the Australian people, the Australian country as one,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re playing by one set of rules and that\u2019s what monoculturalism is.\u201d<\/p>\n
