It followed his unsuccessful stint coaching Brisbane, where he was one of the club\u2019s all-time great as a player.<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old, who has now rejoined Fox Footy as a commentator, has watched on as the Blues won five consecutive games to surge into the newly-expanded 10-team finals race with eight rounds remaining.<\/p>\n
That has been tough for Voss – but only because he hasn\u2019t gotten to \u201cshare in the spoils\u201d with the players and coaches he worked so closely with.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been different, because as a coach, when you step away mid-season you\u2019re still almost emotionally involved without being there. And having zero control over what\u2019s actually happening,\u201d he explained on Fox Footy\u2019s coverage of Brisbane vs Sydney.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it was encouraging to see the response and what they did in the first week, so it was nice to see that, but then for the confidence to build the way it has over the last four weeks has been really impressive.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I think every time that we\u2019ve actually seen them play week-on-week, they\u2019ve improved something in their game, whether it be the ball movement that everyone\u2019s been talking about being a bit more expansive, their defence and being harder to be scored against. The first few rounds we were getting 100 points on average scored against us.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s difficult to see a team evolve as they have, when you feel like you\u2019ve had some influence over it but then you\u2019re not there to share in the spoils.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve clearly done a great job – Josh has done a great job leading it, the leaders have stood up, if you look at across the board they\u2019re sharing the load a hell of a lot more than what they have, and they\u2019ve been able to turn the results around. So they\u2019ve given themselves a great opportunity to be able to finish off the year really strongly.\u201d<\/p>\n
But nothing has thus far given Voss any incentive to return to the AFL coaching ranks.<\/p>\n

Asked whether he still has an appetite for coaching, Voss replied: \u201cNo, I don\u2019t have one.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I came into this job and started coaching Carlton, I thought this would be my last go at it. First of all, because it\u2019s my second go at it, and I sort of thought well I went to Port Adelaide, seven years, spending some time there, learning a craft under Ken Hinkley, had the most enjoyable time with Ken being a great mentor.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou get to sort of reset yourself as a coach, learn a hell of a lot more from another system and another place. And then you get another go at it, and it hasn\u2019t come exactly the way we want it, so now we move on.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow there\u2019s another journey ahead. I don\u2019t know what that is, but I\u2019ll spend the night here with you lot (at Fox Footy) and then see where it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Voss\u2019 former assistant Josh Fraser, who took the interim role, has been widely praised for his work in the winning streak but maintains he\u2019s not chasing the full-time job.<\/p>\n
However Voss declared \u201cthe results might just demand\u201d he is given the role.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s more time within the season clearly, so let\u2019s see where that goes from there, but you\u2019d have to say that right now you would think he\u2019d be at least part of that process,\u201d Voss explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom what you can tell, and I am literally on the other side right now so I know nothing of what\u2019s going on, they do seem determined to go through that process whatever that looks like. And I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll find the very best candidate.<\/p>\n
