If there’s one thing Abu Dhabi isn’t short of these days, it’s cultural landmarks. The latest is Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi, a new Frank Gehry-designed<\/a> performing arts destination that will bring opera, ballet, theatre and jazz to Saadiyat Island from 2030.<\/p>\n

Located alongside institutions including Louvre Abu Dhabi, the upcoming Guggenheim<\/a> Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum<\/a>, the new venue marks another major investment in the emirate’s long-term cultural ambitions. Translating to House of the Arts, Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi is intended to support everything from large-scale international productions to experimental performances and artist residencies, while welcoming audiences year-round.<\/p>\n

What is Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi?<\/p>\n

Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi is a new performing arts institution being developed by the Department of Culture and Tourism \u2013 Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). Conceived as a permanent home for opera, ballet, theatre, orchestral concerts, musicals and contemporary live performance, it will also host artist residencies, international co-productions and touring partnerships with leading cultural organisations from around the world.<\/p>\n

The project forms part of Abu Dhabi’s broader vision to strengthen its position as a global destination for creativity and cultural exchange, while expanding opportunities for artists from the UAE, the wider region and beyond.<\/p>\n
