Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe is as flush with general classification talents as any team in the pro peloton, with a roster featuring stars like Remco Evenepoel, Florian Lipowitz, Primo\u017e Rogli\u010d, and Jai Hindley. This June, however, the Red Bull rider grabbing the biggest headlines for his GC exploits was none of those Grand Tour podium finishers \u2013\u00a0it was a neo-pro who was just 21 years old when he rode to runner-up honors at the former Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9. <\/p>\n

Luke Tuckwell, who celebrated his 22nd birthday earlier this week, turned a few heads with his top-10 finish at the Tour de Romandie in May, but his performance at the Tour Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes was on a whole ‘nother level, a career-defining ride that has brought the Australian up-and-comer firmly into the spotlight.<\/p>\n

“I was sitting at the cafe here in Andorra the other day with my manager and a Dutch couple walked past our table and said, ‘Are you Luke Tuckwell?’ That was the first time that I had ever been recognized out in public,” Tuckwell told Escape Collective. “My manager was like, ‘Oh, you’re famous now,’ and I was like, ‘Oh … it would appear so.'”<\/p>\n

Halfway into his first year at Red Bull, Tuckwell has catapulted himself to prominence on the strength of his legs, prompting us here at Escape to reach out to the rising star to get a better sense of who he is, where he currently finds himself in his young career, and where he is headed.<\/p>\n
