Melissa Auf der Maur<\/a> has announced a new book, titled My \u201990s Rock Photographs. Find all the details below.<\/p>\n

The former Hole<\/a> and Smashing Pumpkins<\/a> bassist will publish the hardback, 240-page collection on September 8 via DelMonico Books and the Art Gallery Of Ontario. Pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Boasting a selection of 200 photos, the forthcoming book is described as \u201ca photographic love letter to the last analogue decade\u201d. Fans can expect an \u201cintimate\u201d look at the alt-rock scene and the independent spirit of the \u201990s.<\/p>\n

The project includes candid shots of Courtney Love<\/a> and Kurt Cobain<\/a>\u2018s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain<\/a>, as well as hangouts with Pavement<\/a>, Sonic Youth<\/a> and Beck<\/a>, and a limousine ride with Drew Barrymore. There\u2019s also a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Hole\u2019s \u2018Celebrity Skin\u2019 video.<\/p>\n

Auf der Maur was commissioned by Spin Magazine to document Lollapalooza 1995 and the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough an extensive curatorial selection of more than 200 photographs, her memories create a moving self-portrait of a young artist living through the \u201990s alternative music scene, and a time capsule for Generation X,\u201d an official listing reads.<\/p>\n

The featured images are accompanied by Auf der Maur\u2019s own writing, as well as text contributions from the likes of R.E.M.<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Michael Stipe<\/a> and US music critic\u00a0Ann Powers.<\/p>\n

Auf der Maur released her memoir, Even The Good Girls Will Cry<\/a>, earlier this year. The book was described as \u201cpart coming-of-age autobiography, part travel diary, part psychedelic scrapbook\u201d.<\/p>\n

The musician spoke to NME in March for our \u2018Does Rock \u2018N\u2019 Roll Kill Braincells?!\u2019 quiz series<\/a>, where she was asked about the possibility of Hole getting back together<\/a> to play live again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no idea,\u201d Auf der Maur replied. \u201cIf there\u2019s one thing I know about Courtney and Hole, it\u2019s that it\u2019s as mysterious as romantic love. You can\u2019t force, organise, or plan these things.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I do know is I\u2019ve always said no for many years, and it wasn\u2019t until the Evil Empire in the US that I began to contemplate where Hole, and Courtney\u2019s fearless feminism, and our generation, could maybe add to this dire dialogue in the US.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cSome of my interest in returning to Hole in any shape or form is because the world needs that kind of power, rebellion, and intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the chat, the bassist recalled the aforementioned Lollapalooza 1995, hailing the festival as \u201cthe height of so much great individuality and bands, and then it started getting corporate after that\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was beautiful, other than some of the fucked-up shit like shotgun shells being thrown at the stage. That sucked,\u201d she told NME.<\/p>\n

Auf der Maur had previously sparked fresh speculation of another Hole comeback with a mysterious video online<\/a>.
