Join now and get your first month for just $1.<\/a><\/p>\nGiants coach Adam Kingsley described the injury blows to Gruzewski and Daniels in the second term as a \u201csignificant\u201d period on the night, but he lamented his side getting \u201cobliterated\u201d at stoppage in an \u201cincredibly disappointing\u201d result. <\/p>\n
Gruzewski suffered a patella dislocation and will undergo scans to ensure the 21-year old has done no further damage.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll scan that just to check if there\u2019s anymore damage, hopefully not,\u201d Kingsley told reporters post-match.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he might\u2019ve had one four years ago, same sort of thing from what I\u2019m told, which he had surgery on. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll get that scanned and keep our fingers crossed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been really good for us. I thought he started well, competed really well ahead of the ball. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo, yeah, unfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gruzewski, who\u2019s kicked 14 goals from nine games in 2026 and is out of contract at season\u2019s end, was set for a key opportunity to help anchor Kingsley\u2019s forward line with Hogan facing a potential season-ending finger injury.<\/p>\n
The youngster appeared to be in tears on the bench after he was helped from the ground by trainers in emotional scenes. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe seems OK now, he\u2019s settled down. But it\u2019s hard for him, he\u2019s trying to establish a career, he\u2019s desperate to get in,\u201d Kingsley added.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe saw an opportunity: \u2018Jesse out\u2019s for a little while. I\u2019ve got run of games where I\u2019m going to be able to really cement himself into this team\u2019. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he\u2019s done a terrific job when he\u2019s been in the team. Not only kicking goals, but competing and bringing the ball to ground and following up and doing all the stuff you want key forwards to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s really disappointing that he doesn\u2019t get a good run it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gruzewski\u2019s setback came minutes after Daniels pulled up awkwardly and hobbled from the ground with trainers while unable to put any weight on his foot in a wretched Giants run. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt didn\u2019t look great, limping off, getting helped off,\u201d Kingsley said of Daniels.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I don\u2019t know the severity of it, aside from what we all saw, it looked bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, star Hawks forward Nick Watson\u2019s night also came to an abrupt end at half-time due to hamstring tightness. <\/p>\n
Watson pulled up sore midway through the second term and came from the ground to get work on his hamstrings, before he re-entered the game and kicked two goals. <\/p>\n
Watson told Fox Footy at half-time he had a \u201cbit of a tight hammy\u201d and hadn\u2019t trained this week prior to being ruled out for the second half. <\/p>\n
But Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell said there was \u201czero\u201d concern for Watson going into the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t think about him at all pre-game. I wasn\u2019t anywhere of anything going into the game,\u201d Mitchell said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI understand now he was a bit \u2018domsy\u2019 (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), he\u2019s still a bit tight and sore from last week.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut there was no concern about it at all and they\u2019re not concerned now.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you play footy at the level and speed he does, I thought it was a smart call by the medical guys.<\/p>\n
