It also complements existing programs, like initiatives for youth empowerment.

How to apply for TREP

The programme is open to South African nationals whose businesses sit in a township or a rural area.

Applications go through the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency, the National Empowerment Fund and the National Youth Development Agency.

An owner completes the common application form and supplies the usual business records, and submissions can be lodged online or at a Seda office.

Note that there is no cost to the applicant. If someone asks for a fee, it might be a sign of a scam.

Who can apply for the programme

The South African government newspaper Vuk’uzenzele names seven schemes.

These are:

Small-scale bakeries and confectioneries support programme

Autobody repairs and mechanics support programme (as well as small and independent autospares shops and informal automotive entrepreneurs)

Butcheries support programme

Clothing, leather and textiles support programme

Personal care support programme

Spaza-shop support programme

Tshisanyama and cooked food support programme

A South African running a small business in a township can apply for government finance through the Township…

[15
64,63,99,164,198,952,91368,1183,82462
post-763138","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-entrepreneurship","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-business","tag-economy","tag-entrepreneurship","tag-featured","tag-important","tag-south-africa","tag-townships
["GET
