{"id":763472,"date":"2026-06-27T09:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T09:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/763472\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T09:59:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T09:59:10","slug":"clarkston-basketball-stars-reunite-for-hoopfest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/763472\/","title":{"rendered":"Clarkston basketball stars reunite for Hoopfest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">Four standout basketball players, including a pair of former superstar Clarkston Bantams, are among the hundreds of ballers competing in Spokane\u2019s Hoopfest tournament this weekend. <\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">Kellie (McCann-Smith) Kromrei, coach of the Clarkston girls basketball program, will be playing with Jamie (Weisner) Scott, Daisy (Burke) Shustoff, and Danielle Walter. These four women have been shooting hoops together since fourth grade.<\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">\u201cWe used to play together all the way from fourth grade until we signed (to colleges) junior year,\u201d Kromrei said. \u201cWe\u2019ve never lost a game (at Hoopfest); hopefully, we can keep that tradition alive 18 years later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">Kromrei and Scott were award-winning Bantams, and all four played for the Northwest Blazers club team, which was coached by Steve Klees. They will be competing in the elite bracket. <\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">Kromrei said that part of the reason the group is getting together is to celebrate Klees, who founded the Northwest Blazers and has since helped create 300-plus DI scholarships for his players. <\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\">After high school, Scott, 31, went on to play for Oregon State University.
