Poirier, one of mixed martial arts&#8217; most beloved stars, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/mma\/news\/dustin-poirier-gets-to-walk-off-into-the-sunset-as-one-of-mmas-rare-good-guys-im-just-living-my-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">will retire after fighting Max Holloway<\/a> in the main event of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/mma\/news\/ufc-318-dustin-poirier-vs-max-holloway-3-fight-card-odds-start-time-location-date-complete-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">UFC 318<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The stars aligned for Poirier&#8217;s finale. &#8220;The Diamond&#8221; makes the two-hour drive from his Lafayette home to headline New Orleans&#8217; Smoothie King Center. Fellow Louisiana legend Lil Wayne will accompany Poirier to the cage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Holloway, who made his 2012 UFC debut against Poirier, might be the perfect opponent for his retirement. Poirier defeated Holloway that night, and again for the interim UFC lightweight title in 2019.
