New Movies Streaming\u2018Avatar: Fire and Ash\u2019 (2025)<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the weakest of the Avatar series yet, but there\u2019s no one doing it like James Cameron. Special shoutout to Oona Chaplin (granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin!) for playing Varang, the unhinged leader of the fire tribe, who is a natural ally for Quaritch (Stephen Lang) in his quest to defeat Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and the Na\u2019vi.<\/p>\n

\u2018Superman\u2019 (2025)<\/p>\n

I unfortunately cannot recommend you go see the new DC movie \u201cSupergirl\u201d (read my full review here<\/a>), but if you\u2019re jonesing for some Clark Kent in your life, I\u00a0really enjoyed James Gunn\u2019s reboot<\/a>\u00a0last year. David Corenswet\u2019s Superman isn\u2019t just more fragile than prior editions, he\u2019s also more relatable. This Superman has a favorite band, a dog (albeit a superpowered one), and a girlfriend (Rachel Brosnahan\u2019s Lois Lane) for whom he cooks breakfast for dinner. He gets frustrated reading nasty social media posts about himself, and sheds a single tear when an innocent civilian is killed. In short, he\u2019s human.<\/p>\n

New TV Shows Streaming\u2018Avatar The Last Airbender\u2019 Season 2<\/p>\n

For those who haven\u2019t seen the original Nickelodeon series, drop everything and do that first, because it\u2019s the superior show. But Netflix\u2019s live-action adaptation of Aang the Avatar, who must master the four elements (earth, water, fire, and air) in order to save the planet is still pretty good. This season brings Aang, Katara, and Sokka to the majestic city of great city of Ba Sing Se, a the lone safe haven within the war-torn Earth Kingdom. The visuals of Netflix\u2019s show are incredible, and true to the cartoon\u2019s intent. The only thing missing is the Nickelodeon show\u2019s cheeky humor \u2014 but that\u2019s to be expected in this grown-up adaptation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bear\u201d Season 5<\/p>\n

After a decline in quality over the past two seasons, \u201cThe Bear\u201d is back with renewed focus for its finale. The brisk eight-episode season gets back to the high-stakes, humorous feel of its early episodes, as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) steps back from the restaurant he took to new heights.<\/p>\n

\u2018Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness\u2019<\/p>\n

If Larry David\u2019s \u201cCurb Your Enthusiasm\u201d is pretty, pretty good, then David\u2019s return to HBO is just plain good, with no intensifiers. David\u2019s show has the \u201cSeinfeld\u201d creator essentially playing a version of himself at various points in American history, with his annoying quirks serving as the catalyst for pivotal moments in the story of our country. Some sketches work, while some are pretty, pretty unfunny. But even a lesser Larry is worth watching.<\/p>\n
