A whale carcass has triggered a shark feeding frenzy<\/a>, with the high tide bringing predators unnervingly close to the shore.<\/p>\n

The extraordinary scene unfolded at Mon Repos Beach in Bundaberg<\/a>, after residents woke to a shark warning text message urging people to stay out of the water<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The resident said they spoke with a park ranger, who believed the whale had likely been unwell for some time before it died.\u00a0Facebook\/Sue-ellen Machon<\/p>\n

Sue-ellen Machon, who witnessed the event, said the day began with a \u201ckeep out of water shark sighting SMS alert\u201d before a neighbour told them a dead whale had washed ashore<\/a>.<\/p>\n

By the afternoon, the carcass had drawn a crowd of sharks into the shallows, where they tucked into a feast just off the beach.<\/p>\n

Machon said she later spoke with a park ranger, who believed the whale had likely been unwell for some time before it died.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe poor whale had probably been sick for a long time due to his lack of weight, size and the lice infestation,\u201d she told nine.com.au.<\/p>\n
