Essendon interim coach Dean Solomon says he will see out his contract at Tullamarine even if he is overlooked for the senior coaching role. <\/p>\n

The margin concealed the manner of the defeat; eight players failed to record a tackle and only three applied one.<\/p>\n

Essendon officially launched its search for a new coach this week by unveiling the panel tasked with selecting the club\u2019s next senior mentor.<\/p>\n

Solomon answered four questions on the process post-game, declaring he\u2019ll fill the water bottles if he has to next year to see Essendon improve.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am contracted until next year, so whether I am filling water bottles at halftime, assistant coach, whatever, I\u2019m here,\u201d Solomon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love this footy club, it\u2019s a great footy club and we\u2019re in a spot right now \u2013 it\u2019s been a tough period of time for a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I want to be in here rolling my sleeves up helping this football club, whatever that role is, I will play my role within that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really want to see our club getting back to being a great club, on and off the field, if I play a small role in that I am really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solomon initially wanted to wait until the end of the season to make his decision but admits the new panel has fast-tracked that timeline.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially that was my thought process and I understand there\u2019s a panel put in place and the process will start,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt some stage there\u2019s a conversation that will need to be had, but I am assuming the short term, the next two or three weeks, I\u2019ve got just solely focus on this team.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt some stage, absolutely, I\u2019ve got to make a decision one way or another and have that conversation with the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solomon has conceded four defeats as interim coach of Essendon having also lost three as interim coach of the Gold Coast Suns in 2017.<\/p>\n

But he says the past month has made no alterations to his appetite to be a senior coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I love coaching and I\u2019ve been through this before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what footy does: it stresses you, it tests you and, again, we find out about people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether we\u2019re ready to roll the sleeves up and get to work, and there\u2019s only one way out of it and it\u2019s getting to work\u2026 if it wasn\u2019t a challenge, it wouldn\u2019t be worth it.<\/p>\n
