DETROIT \u2013 The Detroit Historical Society chose \u201cCurrents in Color\u201d by Brontae Williamson to become a mural in Paint-By-Number style on Belle Isle.<\/p>\n

The mural will be located in The Strand at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.<\/p>\n

Williamson says her piece reflects diversity between people and the natural world and Detroiters love for the city\u2019s beauty.<\/p>\n

Brontae Williamson is a multi-disciplinary designer with a product design degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. <\/p>\n

Currents in Color will be translated into a 32 x 8-foot horizontal mural made of 16 4-foot square paint-by-number style panels.<\/p>\n

The Paint-By-Number style honors Paint-By-Number\u2018s Detroit developer, Dan Robbins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Panel painting will be open to the community throughout the summer and later assembled and hung on the building.<\/p>\n

Panel painting information has not yet been released.<\/p>\n

The Detroit Historical Society received submissions from local artists, the society aimed to find a piece for a mural to showcase Detroit\u2019s art community, region and maritime history.<\/p>\n

The society is an independent non-profit organization that manages the Detroit Historical Museum in Midtown and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle. <\/p>\n

The Dossin Great Lakes Museum is located at 100 Strand Drive on Belle Isle. <\/p>\n

Admission is $5 for adults and children and free for Detroit Historical Society members and children under 6. <\/p>\n
