An untypically underwhelming weekend for the powerhouse squad was compounded by the team orders gaffe in the closing stages of the Darwin Triple Crown finale<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Series leader Broc Feeney had been running fourth in the final stint before being asked to move aside for teammate Will Brown, who was on fresher rubber.<\/p>\n

The promise was that if Brown couldn\u2019t hunt down third-placed Cam Waters he would hand fourth place back to Feeney before the finish.<\/p>\n

That was then complicated by Chaz Mostert\u2019s late engine failure, which meant the race finished under safety car and the swap was unable to happen.<\/p>\n

The freshly-released audio reveals just how displeased Feeney was that the \u201cshake and bake\u201d move couldn\u2019t be completed, leaving him behind Brown on the road.<\/p>\n

When the safety car was initially called Feeney sarcastically congratulated the team on a \u201cgreat job\u201d, before saying, \u201cfuck\u2019s sake. I\u2019m always playing this bloody team game\u201d.<\/p>\n

Brown for his part offered to give Feeney a position back in another race, stating that he wasn\u2019t willing to \u201ccop any flack\u201d over the matter.<\/p>\n

#888 engineer Andrew Edwards: Will, do you want to shake and bake? Or do you want to try and race Broc yourself?<\/p>\n

Will Brown: I\u2019m happy to shake and bake. I think that\u2019s fair in this position. Shake and bake baby!<\/p>\n

#88 engineer Marty Short: Okay mate, Will is going to switch back. Possible safety car. Will should switch back.<\/p>\n

MS: Safety car, safety car mate.<\/p>\n

Broc Feeney: Yeah, great job, great job. Now I\u2019m stuck behind him. Great job.<\/p>\n

MS: Yeah all good mate. We tried to do it, we tried to do it.<\/p>\n

BF: Yeah, well why doesn\u2019t he let off, huh? Roll down the straight. Fuck\u2019s sake. I\u2019m always playing this bloody team game.<\/p>\n

WB: I\u2019ll just let him go out of the last corner on the last lap if we get a restart, okay?<\/p>\n

AE: Yeah, we\u2019ve got to make sure we do it when we restart. Obviously we\u2019ve got to go past the start\/finish line. And then we can do it from there. If we can\u2019t do this by the end, I don\u2019t think we\u2019re going to be able to resolve it [and] we\u2019ll have to do it another day.<\/p>\n

WB: Yeah, happy to do it another day. Not a drama at all. But do you reckon they\u2019ll send us\u2026 oh is this finishing at the end of this [lap]?<\/p>\n

AE: Yeah that\u2019s it, we\u2019re finishing under safety car.<\/p>\n
