{"id":767661,"date":"2026-06-29T11:25:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T11:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/767661\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T11:25:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T11:25:15","slug":"roland-dane-addresses-supercars-silly-season-situation-with-declan-fraser-premiair-racing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/767661\/","title":{"rendered":"Roland Dane addresses Supercars silly season situation with Declan Fraser, PremiAir Racing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PREMIAIR Racing team principal Roland Dane says there is plenty of water to go under the bridge before it decides on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1544-Jayden-Ojeda\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jayden Ojeda<\/a>\u2019s teammate for the 2027 Repco Supercars Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Dane confirmed on the eve of the Darwin Triple Crown that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/dane-nominated-ojeda-as-van-gisbergen-replacement\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">standout rookie Ojeda is locked and loaded for next season<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2633-Declan-Fraser\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Declan Fraser<\/a>\u2019s future however remains up in the air, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/crunch-time-is-looming-for-fraser-fairytale\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">amid his quest for qualifying improvements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/how-premiair-driver-is-pursuing-qualifying-upturn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was a step forward on that front in Darwin<\/a>, but it\u2019s clear there\u2019s more to do for the 2022 Super2 champion to secure a second season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeclan, we have got an option on, but we\u2019re probably nowhere near the point at which we actually make a call yet,\u201d Dane told V8 Sleuth at Hidden Valley of Fraser\u2019s contractual status.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of its latest rebuild, PremiAir holds 10th in the teams\u2019 championship but has started to show signs of life lately \u2013 and there are growing expectations in line with that trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we lived up to our promise, really,\u201d Dane assessed of the squad\u2019s Darwin display.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be in the top 10, minimum, all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Undercut \u2013 How hot is too hot?<\/p>\n<p>The Undercut is back for another week, downloading a hot weekend in the Top End for Supercars!<\/p>\n<p>He further noted: \u201cThere\u2019s a technique to driving these cars on this tyre, the \u201925 (soft) tyre particularly, and getting it right, and there\u2019s times when I think the fact we have got rookies in the cars shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019re not the only ones, but it shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJayden is the best rookie, but that doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019re at the level yet. It\u2019s still very much a learning process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ojeda is the highest-ranked rookie in the championship, at 13th.
