(ABC News: Xavier Martin)

The court heard at the time of the offending, Alampi was employed by the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) as a through-care coordinator, a role that required her to support the then-20 year-old when he was released on parole in July 2024.

The man, who was convicted of manslaughter as a youth three years earlier, cannot be named for legal reasons.

“Part of your role as a through-care coordinator was to assist the prisoner reintegrating into their community,” Chief Justice Michael Grant said in his sentencing remarks.

“Over the following four months, you developed a relationship with the prisoner which can only be described as grossly inappropriate.”

The court heard Alampi met with the parolee in Alice Springs on the night of November 6. Just over two hours later he removed his electronic monitoring device, which prompted authorities to revoke his parole.

“A community corrections officer contacted you at that time and asked if you knew where the prisoner was. You replied that you did not know where or with whom the prisoner was,” Chief Justice Grant said.

“Later that afternoon you had a discussion with the same community corrections officer and suggested that the prisoner had probably travelled to Darwin.”

The court heard Samantha Alampi and the fugitive met up multiple times in Alice Springs after he breached his parole. (ABC News: Michael Franchi)

The court heard the then-36-year-old booked a room at the Diplomat Hotel in Alice Springs the following day and that night returned to the hotel with the young man.

On November 8 police found Alampi in a room at the Salvation Army Hostel where the parolee had been staying. She was packing his personal belongings into a bag.

“You told police that you were doing that in a professional capacity so that the belongings could be stored at the NAAJA office,” Chief Justice Grant said.

“You told police that was because you understood the prisoner would be required to serve several years in prison once located by police.

“That was misleading, deceptive and criminal conduct.”

In the early hours of November 10 police officers found the duo sleeping together in a room at the Mercure Resort.

Police found the pair in a room at the Mercure Alice Springs Resort.
