Ye<\/a> has never been known to do things low-key, so it tracks that he celebrated his 49th birthday by renting out the humble Palace of Versailles. Over the weekend, the rapper and his wife, Bianca Censori<\/a>, were photographed hanging out with 20 or so friends in masks in a private section of the grand former residence of Louis XIV, per \u201cPage Six.\u201d<\/a> TMZ<\/a> reported that the couple partied into the wee hours of the morning, later taking their soir\u00e9e to the luxury hotel Airelles Ch\u00e2teau de Versailles, where sources claimed the group spent just under $400,000.<\/p>\n

For the occasion, West was covered head to toe in an all-black, militaristic ensemble made<\/a> by controversial designer Elena Velez<\/a>. (You may remember Velez as the woman who put Clavicular<\/a> in a runway show.) With leather pants, boots, gloves, and an expressionless mask that is giving me nightmares, he looked like a ghoulish dominatrix. Censori, meanwhile, opted for a cream satin corset with feathers covering her face and crotch and a flowing silk train, tagging designer Miss Claire Sullivan \u2014 the woman behind Rama Duwaji\u2019s bootleg Knicks parade dress<\/a> \u2014\u00a0in her Stories. In photos posted to West\u2019s Instagram Story, the rapper posed on a stool next to a harp with Censori on his lap. Censori later removed her train and bounced around the palace in nothing but her bodice and feathered face mask. Other guests obscured their faces with Phantom of the Opera\u2013style face coverings and fluffy animal heads.<\/p>\n

If this is how West celebrated his 49th birthday \u2014 an unremarkable year in the grand ranking of birthdays \u2014\u00a0I can only imagine what his 50th might look like. Perhaps a White House takeover with a surrealist theme?<\/p>\n
