Wiggins picking up his option at least would’ve accounted for one roster spot in the season ahead. Getting him to agree to a multiyear deal is the more optimal outcome, assuming the payout is split equally or not too front-loaded.<\/p>\n
Wiggins, the former No. 1 overall pick in 2014, spent the first six and a half seasons of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves before landing in Golden State during the 2020 campaign. He quickly established himself as a valuable asset to the Warriors and helped them win a title in 2022. <\/p>\n
He was traded to Miami at the 2025 NBA trade deadline as part of the deal that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State. <\/p>\n
While Wiggins found his name circulating in trade rumors at times during the 2025-26 season, the Heat ultimately opted to keep the swingman around through the end of the season. <\/p>\n
