A daughter has shared her family dilemma after she requested access to her elderly mother’s will, and was branded a “gold digger” in response.<\/p>\n

The woman explained how her mother had appointed her the executor of the will and medical power of attorney, and said she expected to inherit a “substantial amount” of money when her mother passes away.<\/p>\n

However, the daughter has grown concerned after one of her estranged nephews re-entered her mother’s life, and she suspected him of being up to no good.<\/p>\n

She said she asked her mother to put the will in a safe deposit box or give it to the daughter for “safe-keeping”, but she has repeatedly refused, and it has ended in a row.<\/p>\n

“My mother insists on hiding the will in her house along with the medical power of attorney papers,” the daughter began in a Reddit post shared on Friday.<\/p>\n

“The problem is that a great-grandson of hers who hung up on her when he was 13 and has not been heard from for over six years has reemerged.”<\/p>\n

The daughter revealed that the great-grandson had originally been in the will, but her mother decided to remove him when they became estranged.<\/p>\n

Recently, the man contacted the elderly woman “out of nowhere” and has effectively “set up residence in her home”, setting off alarm bells for the daughter.<\/p>\n

“He’s probably hoping to get the money she was going to give him,” the worried Redditor continued.<\/p>\n

“He is a snake, and I believe that he is trying to get into the home to get whatever he can when she passes away. I live in another state, so he will almost certainly get into the house before me. That means that he will possess the will.<\/p>\n

“I have had several fights with my mother over the storage of the will.<\/p>\n

Of late, she is accusing me of being a gold digger because it’s all I am worried about.<\/p>\n

“I keep trying to explain to her that as the executor of the will, if I do not have possession of the original will, in essence, there is no will.”<\/p>\n

The daughter said her biggest fear is that the great-grandson will “destroy” the legal document if he finds it, so she wants it to be stored somewhere that she “can get to it”.<\/p>\n

The Reddit post has quickly gone viral and amassed comments from dozens of people.<\/p>\n

Many shared the daughter’s concerns and urged her to contact a lawyer.<\/p>\n

“If she won’t give you the will, at least get her to give it to her lawyer for safekeeping, that way it’s out of the house and out of that guy’s reach. She trusts her lawyer more than she trusts you right now,” one person penned.<\/p>\n

Another user commented that the situation was unfair to her elderly mother, writing: “I personally wouldn\u2019t want my kids to learn or have arguments over what is going where before I am gone.”<\/p>\n
