{"id":768853,"date":"2026-06-30T01:08:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T01:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/768853\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T01:08:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T01:08:11","slug":"multiple-vehicles-destroyed-several-drivers-injured-after-trucks-crash-into-rest-stop-on-hume-highway-nsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/768853\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple vehicles destroyed, several drivers injured after trucks crash into rest stop on Hume Highway, NSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A driver is unaccounted for and up to seven semi-trailers have been destroyed by fire after trucks crashed into a rest area near Goulburn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It appears two trucks collided and careered into five other rigs at a roadside rest stop,&#8221; Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Emergency services received calls just after 5am that multiple trucks were alight on the Hume Highway at Breadalbane, 30 kilometres south-west of Goulburn.<\/p>\n<p>Loading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">NSW Ambulance says six people were treated at the scene for minor injuries, while one person remains unaccounted for.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">There are reports of explosions, with a 300-metre exclusion zone in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;One truck was carrying eight tonnes of butane cans, another was transporting resin, a third contained memory foam and a fourth was packed with alcohol, fuelling the resulting fire and explosions,&#8221; FRNSW said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Hume Highway is closed in both directions between Gunning and Cullerin Road in Breadalbane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and allow more than an hour for extra travel time on diversions through Canberra via the Federal and Barton Highways.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">More than 30 firefighters are on the scene working to contain the blaze and monitor hazardous material runoff.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Two rfs members standing on highway next to truck in high viz and helmets, sky is lit with sunrise and colours.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/cb9e0086a1660429c0a559a7f3529a99.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">An exclusion zone is in place after reports of explosions and the trucks containing flammable material.
