Real Madrid<\/a> is reportedly closing in on the appointment of Pedro Mart\u00ednez as their new head coach, according to MARCA<\/a>, although the club has yet to officially clarify current coach Sergio Scariolo\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

The report states that Madrid is prepared to pay Valencia<\/a> Basket a \u20ac1 million release clause to secure Mart\u00ednez, who is expected to sign a three-year contract worth just over \u20ac1 million per season.<\/p>\n

The 65-year-old coach is coming off a historic campaign with Valencia<\/a>, leading the club to its first-ever EuroLeague Final Four appearance before winning both the Endesa Supercopa and the Liga Endesa title.<\/p>\n

The upcoming move would mark Mart\u00ednez\u2019s first stint in charge of either Real Madrid<\/a> or Barcelona, the two biggest and most iconic Spanish clubs.<\/p>\n
