Gervonta Davis<\/a> is expected to return to action this year and Devin Haney<\/a> is one name being mentioned for a potential fight, but it won\u2019t be the first time that they have shared the ring, with one of their previous spars labelled as \u2018crazy\u2019 by Floyd Mayweather.<\/p>\n

Davis was a Mayweather prot\u00e9g\u00e9 early on his career and was signed with Mayweather Promotions, with \u2018TBE\u2019 guiding \u2018Tank\u2019 to world titles in the super-featherweight, lightweight and super-lightweight divisions before their split in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, Davis has fought just four times in four years and is winless since June 2024, with external issues being the key reason behind this latest and extended stretch of inactivity.<\/p>\n

Despite being in line for a shot at his old WBA lightweight world title against Floyd Schofield, it seems as though Davis could pursue honours in a different weight division upon his return, after \u2018reaching out\u2019 for a fight with WBO welterweight ruler Haney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Haney claimed that belt back in November after a unanimous decision victory over Brian Norman Jr, having previously held world honours at lightweight and super-lightweight.<\/p>\n

Haney sparred Davis as a 16-year-old in a viral sparring session<\/a> and recalling that day, Mayweather admitted that it was \u2018crazy work\u2019, as per talkSPORT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTank boxed Devin Haney and Devin Haney was in good shape, Tank wasn\u2019t in good shape but they worked. It was some crazy work. Just with him and Devin working, it was crazy entertaining work at that particular time.\u201d<\/p>\n
