Socceroos<\/a> legend Craig Foster<\/a> did not hold back following the Netherlands shock exit against Morocco in the Round of 32<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The respected Stan Sport pundit wrote on social media that Morocco was the \u201conly team pushing to actually win the game in extra time\u201d and criticised the Dutch side for looking deeply uncomfortable on the world stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot for the first time, we see a Netherlands at unease with its own football history, unable to any longer live up to its beginnings, and certainly not its legends and totems,\u201d Foster wrote on X. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat mantle of beauty, of progress, of innovation, now rests elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

The penalty shootout loss marks the earliest exit from a FIFA World Cup<\/a> in the Netherlands\u2019 football history.<\/p>\n

They weren\u2019t the only giants to fall on Tuesday AEST, either. <\/p>\n

Germany exited in similarly shocking fashion after being beaten on penalties to Paraguay<\/a>, two traditional European powerhouses were dumped out by spirited underdogs.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Stan Sport\u2019s Added Time<\/a>, former Socceroos player Scott McDonald backed Foster\u2019s assessment, agreeing that the North African side was fully deserving of their victory against the Dutch.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought on the balance of play, Morocco, for me, deserved to go through just with their performance,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Amy Harrison went a step further and spoke about the Netherlands\u2019 dramatic decline over their final 90 minutes of the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think (the Netherlands have) done it to themselves, unfortunately. I think that was probably the worst ninety minutes of the World Cup,\u201d she said on Added Time. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt like they were playing to not lose, as opposed to the group games where they were playing to win, and they were exciting, they were relentless. Even (on) the coverage, Zlatan actually said the same. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe said that he was super disappointed with the way that they played from the get-go. There was no fluidity in what they were doing up front. <\/p>\n

\u201cMorocco were excellent.
