The Travelers Championship is held just a few short miles from ESPN\u2019s campus in Bristol, Ct. That means that over the course of a tournament week in sleepy central Connecticut, there are bound to be a few random encounters between athletes and some of the world\u2019s most visible sports journalists, but few have ever caused a stir quite like this.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, ESPN anchor Gary Striewski posted a video to his TikTok where he told the story of bumping into Sahith Theegala and his fianc\u00e9e Juju Chan in a local coffee shop. According to Striewski, he recognized Chan from social media where Chan is a minor personality with about 47,000 followers on Instagram. While Theegala was waiting for the couple\u2019s drinks, Striewski went over and grabbed a table right next to where Chan was sitting, leaned in and said, \u201chas anyone spotted you yet?\u201d<\/p>\n

Chan reportedly replied, \u201cI guess now.\u201d That was the extent of the interaction, but Striewski clearly felt the comment and demeanor from Chan crossed a line, because he jumped on TikTok and took the encounter public. Because this is the year 2026, Chan quickly got wind of Striewski\u2019s video and replied with her side of the story.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe interaction that he\u2019s explaining did not happen the way he\u2019s saying it did,\u201d she said on Instagram. \u201cHe\u2019s continuing to let people believe a false narrative \u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cI was sitting in this coffee shop. Sahith was getting our coffee \u2026 This person comes and sits three inches away from me \u2026 As this person is sitting down, (he) directly says, \u2018Has anyone spotted you yet? To me, that\u2019s not a normal thing that people would say to me. I don\u2019t know who this person is. It\u2019s a weird comment to me, but I looked over and I just laughed. I said, \u2018I guess now.\u2019 I said it lightheartedly. I was uncomfortable with the comment, but I was also trying to laugh it off\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
After Chan posted her reply, a host of golf personalities, including Paige Spiranac and Theegala, replied expressing their support.<\/p>\n
