Ireland have moved up one spot to 11th place in the men’s Twenty20 Cricket world rankings after their historic win over India. <\/p>\n

On Friday, Ireland picked up their first-ever win over the world champions and top-ranked T20 side in the world with a 34-run victory at Stormont. <\/p>\n

It was the first victory over India in nine attempts in T20 interantionals, and the 12th time in any format.<\/p>\n

Then, on Sunday, Ireland held on to inflict a first series defeat on India since 2023 with a dramatic one-run victory.<\/p>\n

After that win, head coach Heinrich Malan stepped down and was replaced by former Ireland international Gary Wilson.<\/a><\/p>\n

The T20 rankings will have an impact on qualification as cricket joins the Olympic schedule for the first time for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n

The top team from each continent – currently India, England, South Africa and Australia – will join hosts USA, while the final spot at the Games will be secured by one of the next eight ranked teams, who will play a qualifier to make it to LA.<\/p>\n

Ireland’s only other scheduled matches this summer are a five-game one-day international series with Afghanistan in August.<\/p>\n
