The movie was set in the 2020s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In June 2026, REK (Robot Entertainment Kombat), a company known for its <a href=\"https:\/\/brobible.com\/tag\/robots\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"40505078\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">robot<\/a>-fighting events, unveiled a new fighting robot in San Francisco. And it is terrifying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been fighting robots for a little bit more than a year,\u201d a person named Cix of REK told <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/post\/san-francisco-storefront-opened-rek-will-allow-customers-train-showcase-repair-develop-giant-humanoid-robots\/19377134\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ABC 7 News<\/a>. \u201cLast time we talked we were down at the gym on Van Ness. Those were four and a half feet tall, today we\u2019re upgrading to 6 feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also added, \u201cIt\u2019s not going to be <a href=\"https:\/\/brobible.com\/culture\/article\/robot-california-restaurant-smashing-plates\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">making your dishes<\/a> that\u2019s for sure. It\u2019s like a motorized bat. If you were hit by a bat going 100 miles per hour that\u2019s what it would be like to get hit by one of these.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cix isn\u2019t joking either. In newly released footage, smaller robots spar in a boxing ring until a six-foot-tall robot walks into the arena. That\u2019s when they all stop. Presumably in awe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEffectively, humanoid <a href=\"https:\/\/brobible.com\/culture\/article\/dancing-robot-struck-child\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">robot<\/a> fights are the robot equivalent of car racing,\u201d Cix said.<\/p>\n<p>The company wants to \u2018bring science fiction to life\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Cix, the company\u2019s goal is to bring science fiction to life, and the new location in a previously empty San Francisco storefront is expected to offer a range of services related to humanoid robots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe REK shop here you\u2019ll be able to repair humanoids, be able to buy humanoids, rent them, and then we will also do classes so for the first time you\u2019ll be able to see a humanoid robot and figure out how to walk it and how to program it,\u201d Cix said.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This video is going viral on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>The first fight ever between an Engine and Unitree robot at our new store space in SF. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yeHonKfWrv\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/yeHonKfWrv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CIX \ud83e\uddbe (@cixliv) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cixliv\/status\/2053199679081607233?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">May 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s effectively like Mortal Kombat blew out of a video game console and went into a piece of metal,\u201d said Cix.
