National speculation has largely assumed Anthony Davis won\u2019t begin the season in Washington.<\/p>\n

The Wizards don\u2019t necessarily see it that way.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s almost as if Washington\u2019s feelings don\u2019t matter when it comes to the discussion over where the 10-time All-Star plays next season.<\/p>\n

We all grasp that Davis, entering his 15th NBA season, isn\u2019t a logical focal point for a team learning how to win. That\u2019s why the Wizards\u2019 February trade with the Mavericks for the 2020 NBA Champion stunned the league. <\/p>\n

Fake trades sending Davis elsewhere began immediately. This week\u2019s buzz has Davis and free agent LeBron James, his teammate with the Lakers, reuniting with the Warriors.<\/p>\n

The thing is, Washington didn\u2019t acquire Davis to flip him immediately. <\/p>\n

One important distinction before we go any further: Keeping Davis does not mean there’s an extension looming.<\/p>\n
