{"id":772949,"date":"2026-07-01T22:06:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T22:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/772949\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T22:06:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T22:06:15","slug":"nuggets-have-contacted-lebron-james-in-free-agency-source-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/772949\/","title":{"rendered":"Nuggets have contacted LeBron James in free agency, source says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nuggets have reached out to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2026\/05\/29\/lebron-next-team-nba-top-free-agents-2026-offseason-nuggets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LeBron James<\/a> to express interest in the 21-time All-NBA forward in free agency, a league source outside of the Nuggets told The Denver Post.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2026\/06\/30\/lebron-james-not-returning-lakers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James will join a new team this offseason<\/a>, ending an eight-year stint with the Lakers highlighted by a championship in 2020. The NBA\u2019s free agency moratorium began Tuesday evening, with teams officially allowed to contact and negotiate with players. Cleveland, Golden State and Minnesota are also among the teams reportedly showing interest.<\/p>\n<p>The Nuggets have tried to recruit James in free agency before. Team president Josh Kroenke mailed him a throwback Nuggets jersey in 2018 before James signed with the Lakers. He has described Kroenke as a \u201cvery dear friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/myaccount.denverpost.com\/dp\/preference\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Want more Nuggets news?
