Colin Farrell swore like a sailor on \u201cFIFA World Cup on FOX After Hours with James Corden,\u201d providing some colorful commentary on the quadrennial international association football competition. Little did he know that the show was actually live.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t know that,\u201d Farrell kept repeating with an embarrassed look on his face. \u201cI didn\u2019t know that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fox Sports shared a compilation of Farrell\u2019s not-safe-for-air remarks on Instagram (all bleeped, of course), quoting the star of \u201cThe Penguin\u201d and Apple TV\u2019s \u201cSugar\u201d in the captions as he gawked at a wax statue in the corner: \u201cWho the f\u2013k is that?\u201d<\/p>\n
What Farrell didn\u2019t know \u2014\u00a0and what the program\u2019s host James Corden quickly shared \u2014\u00a0was that his question (and many other statements) were airing to viewers live.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me tell you two things,\u201d Corden said. \u201cNumber one, that\u2019s the waxwork Pel\u00e9 from Madame Tussauds, and number two, this is live.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt mightn\u2019t\u2019ve been that different, but I didn\u2019t know that,\u201d Farrell said after a long, concerned-looking pause. \u201cI would\u2019ve liked to have known that.\u201d You can watch the full video below.<\/p>\n
Farrell\u2019s incessant swearing and subsequent realization got a big burst of laughter from his fellow panelists and the live audience. The actor, an Emmy and Oscar nominee for such projects as \u201cThe Penguin\u201d and \u201cThe Banshees of Inisherin,\u201d started to say that he should have known better before realizing that the name of the show didn\u2019t do him any favors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWait a minute, it\u2019s called \u2018Live\u2019 \u2014 no it\u2019s not, it\u2019s called \u2018After Hours!’\u201d Farrell realized.<\/p>\n
Currently, Farrell is starring in \u201cSugar,\u201d the Apple TV neo-noir created by Mark Protosevich and showrun by Protosevich, Simon Kinberg and Sam Catlin. Farrell will soon appear in the long-awaited \u201cThe Batman: Part II\u201d as The Penguin.<\/p>\n
