McLaren<\/a> Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri<\/a> has announced that he will have his own grandstand at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

Similar to his team-mate Lando Norris’s grandstand at his home grand prix at Silverstone, Piastri will join multiple other Australian drivers, including Jack Brabham, Mark Webber<\/a>, Daniel Ricciardo<\/a>, Alan Jones, and Arthur Waite, who have a grandstand named after them at Albert Park.<\/p>\n

Piastri’s grandstand will be on the main straight, opposite the pitlane.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited by the news that I\u2019ll have my own grandstand at next year\u2019s Australian Grand Prix,” Piastri explained<\/a>. “It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can\u2019t wait to see it all come together next March.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I\u2019m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. The Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is just an extra reason why I can\u2019t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Red Bull driver Mark Webber, who also acts as Piastri’s manager, added:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s magnificent news for the event and for Oscar. It\u2019s a reflection of his results so far, incredibly early in his career, that he\u2019s managed to have the amount of podiums and victories that he\u2019s had. Clearly he is very comfortable at the elite level, and making his presence felt which is brilliant, and representing Australia in the way that the country likes to be represented.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it will all sink in when the event is under way and the people in the grandstand can be opposite Oscar\u2019s pitbox. It will be an added bonus for the fans and Oscar alike.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Australian driver currently leads the drivers’ standings with a nine-point gap to his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris<\/a>. With 10 races remaining this year, it is anticipated that the fight for the drivers’ title will continue to the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix are set to go on sale for the general public on 10 September.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
